Did you know that Leyte is the LARGEST and OLDEST province in the EASTERN VISAYAS REGION? It has a lot of beautiful places to go when you travel there. It also has a history about Gen. Douglas Mc Arthur, where he landed there when he was trying to free the Philippines from the Japanese Emperial Army. 

One of the beautiful places I want to go after I finish college is Leyte. There are good places to visit in Leyte and one  of that is located in Palompon. This Island has fine sands and although it is not exactly as fine as Boracay, it is close and it is new paradise. When you visit here you get sort of exclusivity because they only cater 50 tourists in their island that only long for 3 days no furthermore.

There are two ways to get in Leyte; easy but pricey, longer time to travel but cheap. The first one or the easy one is through air. From Robinson Mall Antipolo ride a bus to Robinsons Galleria that costs 50 pesos, Robinsons Galleria to NAIA Terminal 2 with 190 pesos through bus and MNL Airport to TAC Airport, then take a taxi to Tacloban City and ride a bus again to Leyte. When you get there you know that the Palompon Island is near, you just have to take a Van to Palompon and take a ride on a boat.

The second way to get in there is through land. Take a ride in Antipolo Simbahan to Cubao that costs 50 pesos and find the terminal of Cubao Silver Star Bus to Leyte that will take 26 hours and 4 minutes and will costs 1,651 pesos.

There are sari-sari stores in Kalanggaman Island that cooks short order food for tourists. You can also buy fresh catch from the local market and use the grilling stations and wooden tables that are available for tourists (FREE).

Travel Tips

It is recommended to start your boat trip as early as 6am if you prefer smooth sailing.

There are Tipi Huts for rent on the island but they are very limited, alternatively, you can bring your own tent or rent one if you want to stay overnight on the island.

There are huts, Tippi Houses, and cottages for rent on the island.

Tourists are allowed to bring their own food to the island.

Do not travel from 12 noon to 3 pm if you want to avoid a rocky boat ride.

Clean Restrooms and Shower Areas are available on the island but water is very limited.

Bring enough drinking water, there is no potable water on the island

Bring Power Banks for your Gadgets and Mobile phones, there’s no electricity in the island

Smart has the strongest Mobile Phone signal on the island.

ATM Machines are only available in Palompon town proper.

Shower Areas with enough water are available at the Palompon Tourism Office.

Be a responsible traveler, bring your own trash back to the mainland.

          I have visited most of the places around Rizal such as Tanay, Morong, Baras and so on. Traveling is fun to me and its very interesting to me. That is why I take this course to really pursue my dreams to go to different places knowing that I will learn and get many experiences to the places I have not yet visited. Looking to learn more experiences at their places with their cultures.

          The place I already visit is just here in the Philippines, we often go there because we are visiting our parents relatives. Where my family there are welcoming us because they want to introduce us with our relatives that we have not seen yet when they do separate after the wedding of my Grandparents, to work and live on their own.

          Valenzuela has been a good place for me. When I was 10 years old, I used to live in there but now everything has been changed. The playground became a public road, the places where we used to hide when we are playing was built a new subdivision. That different kind of living wakes me up from being a selfish kid. It thought me so many lessons that I will carry until I become old.

          When I was in Valenzuela, my Aunties house. We used to live in a very simple life. For such people, it is so exciting to observe city views and imagine how thousands of people live in there and experience so many different feelings. But when you experience at least once in your life to live at the very simple way, you will know how to value things such as your family, friends, loved ones, and etc. The views of nature are also included, as while watching them, I wonder how such beauty can be created and how it is important not to spoil it.

Dreaming is everyone's hobby. This gives us hope to be a successful human in the near future. We as a student of Tourism Management are studying hard in order to achieve our ultimate dreams, it is to be a Flight Attendant someday. But also our GREATEST DREAM is to payback the sacrifice of our parents by working out our dreams to be fulfilled.

I am a first year college student whose aiming to be a FLIGHT ATTENDANT someday. I know it will take a lot of time, money, pain, and late night breakdowns but I always keep in my mind that I have to work out everydays challenges before I become the person I want to be. And that is one of the reasons that keeps me going after waking up in the morning.

My Greatest Dream is not just focused on how I will be a successful someday but on how will I be able to help my parents for them to also experience a comfortable life that I also dream for the sake of mine. I once dreamed to be a registered nurse, but it turned out that I cannot be able to travel the places I want to go if I pursue that profession.

Working hard towards your dreams, focusing to all the goals you have set is the best thing to do as a student. Sometimes, we really cannot suppress disappointment in our school life; low grades, failed expectations. Use these as our motivation to be more motivated to fulfill our greatest dreams.
